Although each team had an early shot on goal from long range, Andover set the tone for the game as most of the first half was played on Winfield’s side of the field. Despite their aggressiveness, it took nearly 15 minutes for the Trojans to light the scoreboard. Laura Sellew brought the ball to the center of the field from 25 yards out and rifled a shot into the left corner of the net.
The Andover Central Jaguar softball team had high hopes heading into the regional final with Kapaun Mt. Carmel after defeating Ark City in the opening game on Tuesday in run rule fashion 10-0. Their state hopes were dashed by the Crusaders in a hard fought 3-2 defeat.
