The Andover golf team qualified for state by finishing second in team scores, and Central's Lea Clubb qualified as an individual in their respective regional meets held Oct. 8.
Andover's Maddie Routhier was the regional champion, shooting an 89 on the par-71 course at Shawnee Country Club in Topeka. She edged a pair of Shawnee Heights golfers by one stroke for the top spot. Her teammate, Hayley Meisch, shot a 100 to place sixth.
"The course was difficult and the conditions were cold and windy," AHS coach Ryan Harshaw said. "Maddie's 89 was an excellent score considering the conditions."
Other Trojan scores were Rylie Evenson 107, Ashley Teinert 110, Paige Schlitter 109 and Alexa Wasinger 130.
Heights easily won the team competition with a 379. Andover shot a 406, and Topeka Seaman was third with a 427.
At Braeburn Golf Course in Wichita, Clubb shot a 98 which was 13th highest overall. Her score was fourth highest among those individuals who were not members of a qualifying team.
Also for the Jaguars, Mackenzie Penny shot a 106 and Shannon Loofs 112, while both Brianna Klocek and Taryn Daniels carded a 120.
The state meet is Monday, Oct. 15, at Emporia Municipal Golf Course.
